Wiz Khalifa
Multi-platinum selling, GRAMMY® and Golden Globe nominated recording artist Wiz Khalifa burst onto the scene with the release of his first major label debut album, ROLLING PAPERS in 2011. ROLLING PAPERS spawned the hugely successful hits “Black and Yellow,” “Roll Up,” and “No Sleep” and gave Wiz the platform to win the award for “Best New Artist” at the 2011 BET Awards and “Top New Artist” at the 2012 Billboard Music Awards. “Black and Yellow” also earned him his first two GRAMMY nods for “Best Rap Performance” and “Best Rap Song”. As a follow up to ROLLING PAPERS, Wiz Released O.N.I.F.C. in 2012. This album featured tracks “Work Hard, Play Hard” and “Remember You” featuring The Weeknd.
His third studio album released in 2014, BLACC HOLLYWOOD, debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart and included the hit single "We DemBoyz." Soon after, Wiz’s track, “See You Again,” off the FURIOUS 7 soundtrack, catapulted to the top of the charts across 95 countries and earned him a Golden Globes nomination for “Best Original Song”. Wiz released his album, KHALIFA, in February 2016 as a thank you to fans which included the tracks “Bake Sale” featuring Travis Scott and “Elevated.” In June of the same year, Wiz collaborated with Juicy J and TM88 to debut TGOD MAFIA PRESENTS: RUDE AWAKENING. On April 20th, 2017, to celebrate 4/20, Wiz launched his mobile app, Wiz Khalifa’s Weed Farm, which has garnered over 10.1 million downloads and is currently being played in over eight countries and six languages. In February 2018, Wiz partnered with Sovereign Brands to create McQueen and the Violet Fog, an Award winning gin and rated by the NY Times as the “Best Gin”. In April of 2019, Wiz released his 5-part docu series with Apple Music, “Wiz Khalifa: Behind the Cam,” which gives viewers an exclusive look into his life and career. Wiz was also a series regular in Fox’s animated sitcom, “Duncanville'' which had its season 3 finale in 2022. Wiz released his project, The Saga of Wiz Khalifa, which was followed by his critically acclaimed collaborative album, FULL COURT PRESS, with Girl Talk, Big K.R.I.T., and Smoke DZA. In July 2022, Wiz released his full-length solo album MULTIVERSE, to rave reviews. Wiz had a massive 2023 with the release of four new mixtapes; Star Power Mixtape, See Ya Mixtape, Khali Sober Mixtape and Decisions Mixtape. Paul Michael Slayton, better known by his stage name Paul Wall, is an American rapper and DJ. He began his career performing alongside fellow Houstonian Chamillionaire, with whom he released several albums, including 2002’s independently released Get Ya Mind Correct. By 2005, he was signed to Atlantic Records and became successful with his major label debut The People’s Champ. He has been nominated for one Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance as a Duo or Group for the song “Grillz“, his collaboration with rapper Nelly. In 2005, Paul Wall released his first album, The People’s Champ, which debuted at number one on the Billboard 200. The first single was “Sittin’ Sidewayz” featuring Big Pokey, which peaked at no. 34 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Chart and no. 93 on the Billboard Hot 100. The third single, “Girl“, became the most successful single off The People’s Champ, peaking at no. 35 on the Hot 100. In November 2005, Paul Wall was featured on Nelly‘s Grillz, which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
Soulja Boy
Soulja Boy, is an American rapper and record producer. He rose to prominence with his selfreleased 2007 debut single, "Crank That (Soulja Boy)", which peaked the Billboard Hot 100 for seven
non-consecutive weeks. After its commercial re-release by Collipark Music, an imprint of
Interscope Records, the song and its follow-up, "Soulja Girl", both preceded the release of his debut
studio album, Souljaboytellem.com (2007). Despite unfavorable critical reception, it peaked at
number four on the Billboard 200 and spawned the single "Yahhh!
Bow Wow
At only age 13, Bow Wow made his rap debut on Beware of Dog (2000), a double-platinum Top Ten hit, and though he struggled to rival such breakout success in the years that followed, he persevered impressively, maturing as an artist (as well as a man) and releasing a series of albums that met varying degrees of commercial success. In addition to his music career, Bow Wow also found regular work in Hollywood, beginning with Like Mike (2002), a star vehicle for which he recorded a soundtrack. Successive film appearances included Johnson Family Vacation (2004), Roll Bounce (2005), and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift (2006).
Born Shad Gregory Moss on March 9, 1987, in Columbus, OH, Bow Wow began his rap career as Lil Bow Wow, a moniker acquired during his brief relationship with , then the home of and . A subsequent relationship with and his So So Def label proved more fruitful for Bow Wow. Under the guidance of -- who had previously guided other kid rappers, namely and , to mainstream success -- and songwriter/producer , the young rapper was primed for success.
Bow Wow's debut single, "Bounce with Me," was released in summer 2000 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Big Momma's House. The song featured the So So Def female R&B group and became a Top 20 hit in both the U.S. and U.K., charting at number one on the stateside R&B and rap singles charts. Meanwhile, Bow Wow's debut album, Beware of Dog, also became a major hit, selling over two and a half million copies; its commercial success was partly due to the popular follow-up single "Bow Wow (That's My Name)," featuring , and a pair of subsequent minor hits, "Puppy Love" and "Ghetto Girls." Bow Wow's second album, Doggy Bag (2002), was another major success; it peaked at number six on Billboard's album chart, eventually going platinum, and it featured two strong singles, "Thank You" (which prominently samples ' 1981 hit "I'm Not the One") and "Take Ya Home" (produced by during their prime).
Bow Wow broke off his relationship with for his third album, Unleashed (2003). Released by , the album was a commercial disappointment, peaking at number three on the album chart yet selling less than a million copies in the long run. A couple well-charting singles did result, though -- "Let's Get Down," featuring , and "My Baby," featuring -- and the album did boast some first-rate production work, including more beats by . resumed his executive production role for Bow Wow's next album, Wanted (2005), and good fortune resulted. The album went platinum, peaking at number three, and a pair of singles -- "Let Me Hold You," featuring , and "Like You," featuring (with whom he was romantically linked for a while) -- went Top Five.
The hits continued for Bow Wow in subsequent years. His fifth album, The Price of Fame (2006), included a few big ones: "Shortie Like Mine," featuring , "Outta My System," featuring , and "I'm a Flirt," featuring . For Face Off (2007), he collaborated with one of his peers, , an R&B star and friend with whom he toured. The Half Man, Half Dog, Vol. 1 (2008) and Half Man, Half Dog, Vol. 2 (2009) mixtapes led to his 2009 album New Jack City II. PETEY PABLO
One of the more versatile rappers who came out of the Dirty South school of hip-hop in the early 2000s, multi-gold and Grammy-nominated North Carolina native Petey Pablo has demonstrated the art of mixing poignancy with sharp, gut-wrenching lyrics that reach across age, race and social status. The gruff-voiced MC was born and raised in Greenville, NC, and is best known for rap anthems such as "Raise Up,” “Freek-A-Leek” and “Carolina Colors,” have become mainstays on urban radio and as sports stadiums across the country.
“Raise Up” peaked #1 on the US Billboard Rap Chart and #25 on the Billboard Top 100. “Freek-A-Leek” climbed to #2. In addition to his solo career, Pablo has collaborated with artists such as Ciara “Goodies,” Timbaland “Red Bone,” Chris Brown on “Drop Rap,” Lil Wayne “Gangsta Shit,” Sticky Fingaz “Ghetto,” and many others. His collaboration rose to the top of the Billboard US Top 100, R&B and UK charts in 2004. Pablo has demonstrated his versatility with roles in “Drumline,” “Just Another Day,” and most recently on Empire, a guest appearance that included writing the song star Terrence Howard performed “Snitch Bitch.”
His albums Diary of a Sinner: 1st Entry and Still Writing in My Diary: 2nd Entry, showcase a diverse effort that ranges from stereotypical Dirty South decadence to poignant, autobiographical tunes that reflect on the challenges and hardships he experienced growing up poor in the Deep South. In early 2003, Petey Pablo's debut album received a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Album.
